Who is CL Farley?
CL Farley is a South African storyteller who favours speculative fiction and neurodiverse narratives. Her work received a Silver Honorable mention in the Young Writers of the Future, 3rd quarter 2022, and an Honorable Mention in the Young Writers of the Future, 4th quarter 2022. She fell in love with fantasy and science fiction at an early age, due in part to an odd paradox in which speculative worlds were more accessible and relatable than snowy Christmases and sixteen-year olds driving cars they didn't have to steal first. All was well until the abundance of pseudo-European worlds, vaguely Welsh names, and cookie-cutter cultures became overbearing. A search for speculative fiction based on African cultures and mythology turned up little to nothing during the early 00's so she decided the only way forward was to write the stories she wished she could read. The result is an epic fantasy titled The World-breaker's Name. Similarly, a hunger for overt narratives that explore the rich, multifaceted perspectives of neurodiversity compelled her to write the surreal, post-apocalyptic novella, The Invisible Girl. |
